AskYourTeam’s survey results together with research during 2020 suggests that leaders’ responsiveness and need to quickly assimilate information from internal and external sources has been highly visible and had the added benefit of strengthening their organisation’s culture of involvement.
Yet the results also suggest that the changing dynamics and increased demands on leaders’ time and focus has taken its toll. The number of blind spots has risen significantly over the past three years. Employees’ assessment of their organisation’s effectiveness has remained relatively stable, whereas their leaders’ view has become significantly more positive, suggesting leaders risk living in a good news bubble and that their self-awareness has deteriorated.
